THE CAUSE AND PATHOLOGY

Common during the second trimester of pregancy, yeast infections are invariably an outcome of an imbalance of yeast and acid in the vaginal region. This is also known to trigger an outgrowth of yeast in the region of the vagina thus leading to a state of irritation and acute discomfort in the expectant mother per se. The causes are varied and could well include some or more of these:
Hormonal changes typical of pregnancy
History of taking birth control or hormonal pills
Frequent vaginal intercourse
High levels of blood sugar

THE YEAST PERSPECTIVE
Yeast infections during pregnancy are one of the commonest and is best characterized by the presence of a white and watery foul smelling discharge from the vagina. Although they do not harm the baby or you, but they can definitely be a trigger for acute discomfort and could add to the emotional and physical turmoil at this point of time.
